Domino's Cup: The Final
Manor Leas 1 Sir Francis Hill 3
Congratulations to Sir Francis Hill Juniors who overcame Manor Leas in a dramatic and wonderfully entertaining finale to this year's Domino's Pizza Half Time Tournament. Goals from Kyle Pooley, Josh Doughty and Jack Rowden sealed the victory in a game which had the Sincil Bank crowd on its feet until the final whistle...
Both teams were determined to attack from the start and after trading early blows, Kyle Pooley opened the scoring when Manor Leas goalkeeper Jack Forman parried a long range effort from Ben Sharpe and he scrambled home the loose ball. Manor Leas responded quickly, Lewis Smith firing over the bar, before Jack Rowden looped a volley over the Manor Leas bar.
With the travelling Exeter fans now urging on Manor Leas, they equalized when Lewis Smith capitalized on a goalmouth scramble. But moments later Josh Doughty raised the roof off the Coop Stand when his long range shot drifted over the unlucky Jack Forman.
Once again Manor Leas showed why they had reached the final as the tournament's top scorers as Andrew Silk let fly from distance and Lewis Smith once again flashed a sweet left foot effort just wide. But as Manor Leas pressed, a swift counter attack found Kyle Pooley whose header flicked into the path of Jack Rowden. With man-of-the-match goalkeeper Jack Forman quickly off his line, Rowden looped the ball over the onrushing keeper to seal victory for Sir Francis Hill.
The champions received their trophy on the Sincil Bank pitch immediately after the game from Lisa Gamwell on behalf of tournament sponsors Domino's Pizza. Lincoln City would like to congratulate both teams for producing an outstanding final which had the Sincil Bank crowd on its feet, and for their contribution to this year's tournament.
